An unforgettable Duomo private tour, including a marvelous “skywalk” up to the terraces. All exclusively for you, and your family or group of friends. Meet your dedicated English-speaking guide, a knowledgeable and charismatic expert, and set off for a memorable Duomo private tour.
Your guide will lead you to discover the breathtaking Duomo of Florence, officially named Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. Designed by Arnolfo di Cambio, the Duomo is the third largest church in the world (after St. Peter’s in Rome and St. Paul’s in London) and was the largest church in Europe when it was completed in the 15th century. The numerous different styles that you’ll encounter in the building bear witness to changing tastes over the long period of time that elapsed between its foundation and its completion. Discover masterpieces such as Paolo Uccello’s clock, Vasari’s frescoes and Bandinelli’s marble choir.
Then, begin your ascent to Florence heaven: the staircase climb, through narrow and open-air corridors that have been closed to the public for centuries, will be rewarded by an incomparable view of the city from the Duomo rooftop in Florence. We promise, it will be more than worth it: the terraces, 32 meters (105 ft) high, are generally closed to the public, but they will be open especially for you and your private party!
Enjoy your Duomo private tour skywalk, it will be like floating between the city landscape, with its ancient roofs and towers, and the imposing Dome standing just a few meters above your head! Be ready to marvel once you learn all about the stunning architecture and engineer work behind the massive self-standing cathedral dome. Follow your guide around the terrace and discover how it was built, and still firmly dominates the Florence skyline after 600 years! With his astonishingly innovative approach in vaulting the dome space without any scaffolding, Brunelleschi changed the rules of architecture forever, by inventing the way to defy gravity and reach eternity.
Finally, if you feel like going further up after your terrace experience, you can reach the top of Brunelleschi’s Cupola (the Dome) and enjoy the opportunity to reach the 91-metre-high (300 ft) panoramic viewpoint.
IMPORTANT NOTE: please note that there is a strict dress code applied to entrance to places of worship and some museums. No shorts or sleeveless tops are allowed, knees and shoulders must be covered for both men and women. Persons not complying with the dress code will be refused entrance.
