If you’re looking for a dynamic and gripping adventure to explore one of the naturalistic landmarks of the entire Sicily, you should choose this guided e-bike tour to discover the naturalistic wonder that is the Etna volcano.

 

After traveling from the meeting point which will be Taormina or Giardini di Naxos to the foot of Etna, you will be ready to meet our expert guide who will accompany you all the way. After a brief but thorough safety check you will be ready to climb into the saddle and start pedaling. Although the route is not difficult to ride, we must remind you that the tour will be off-road, so an intermediate level is required to tackle the approximately 15/18 km route. In any case, assisted pedaling will make the experience not tiring, rather fun and dynamic. Another unavoidable thing is the correct equipment, but don't worry, because a helmet, as well as a wind jacket is included in the tour in addition to the ebike.

As soon as you start riding you will notice what a singular environment surrounds you! Be ready to get across the wood tracks, go uphill passing next to several lava flows stratified during the years on the northern side of Etna.

Along the way, if possible, there will be a fascinating stop to visit one of the most beautiful lava flow caves of the whole volcano. Lava caves are formed from the incandescent magma that forms from the eruption of a crater, which involves an influx of material that at the surface cools, while below the outermost layer remains at very high temperatures. When the eruption ceases the conduit between the two parts empties forming a tunnel, or what we call a lava cave. Your guide will provide you with even more detailed information and trivia, and will answer all of your questions about the history, geology and morphology of the natural wonder embodied by the Etna volcano.  The lunar landscape that you're going to leave behind will undoubtedly take your breath away, so make sure to have a camera ready to create life-time memories! 

When the ascent ends you will reach the top of the volcano, where you can enjoy some well-deserved rests while admiring the unusual spectacle that opens before you. The last highlight of this incredible experience is your stay at one of the top refuges of the volcano, where you can sample a typical Sicilian lunch, an opportunity to taste the typical local products. You will enjoy your meal all immersed in surreal moon-like landscapes, dotted by the betula aetnensis trees, a rare specimen with a flamboyant white bark, which helps make the surroundings surreal and fascinating.

After finishing your lunch there will also be the chance to spend about 1 hour of free time on your own around the area, before going back to Taormina or Giardini Naxos.

IMPORTANT - Minimum height requirement: please note that we cannot accomodate guests under the height of 155cm (5ft 1").
Required: sport shoes (no flip-flops!).
Strongly suggested sunscreen.
Bike tour difficulty: intermediate (ability to ride on different terrains - low/moderate physical effort).
We regret to inform that this tour is not suitable for guests with wheelchairs or with impaired mobility.
Please inform us of any food intolerance or allergy in advance.

This tour is not recommended for those with blood pressure and heart problems as well as asthma sufferers.

Rain Policy

Provided that we will do our best to proceed with the tours, avoiding the rain and thus possibly carrying out the tour with our vehicle until and if the rain should stop and road conditions will guarantee a safe tour.
If it does not stop raining, the entire tour will be conducted in the safety and comfort of the vehicle.

Since we are aware that the experience running today, might not be the one you had wished for, we are hereby giving you the following choices, to be communicated to our Staff DURING THE CHECK-IN PROCEDURE:

1) Proceed with the tour hoping for clearing weather – PARTIAL activities or NO activities due to heavy RAIN
Customers can decide to proceed with the tour hoping for clearing weather with the understanding that It will NOT be granted any refund or discount. We will do our best to accommodate you, weather permitting.

2) Reschedule the tour for another day, subject to availability. Please contact our Booking office in order to ask for availability and rescheduling the experience.
If no suitable date / time is available for the reschedule, you will be able to choose any other experience available, upon availability, with an equal or less value, or eventually an experience with a higher value, paying only the difference.

3) A credit, called Rain Check, (of the same amount clients paid) to be used the following days or at any other time, subject to availability. The Rain check is a voucher given to the client. The voucher is transferable and may be sold or given to others to use at a future date and lasts up to 1 year from date. It has a value that can be possibly used in any other tour provided by our company.

Please note that clients' safety and comfort are of utmost priority, and proper rain gear is mandatory for guests choosing to "ride in the rain".

We ask clients to be at the meeting point 15 minutes before the tour departure, to check the weather conditions and choose accordingly. No-shows will not be refunded.
